MolluscaBase eds. (2021):
Pupilloidea W. Turton, 1831.
However, the Orculidae have undergone a major revision in recent time. The paper by Harl et al. (2017), mentioned below, on the basis of threee mitochondrial and two nuclear genes, came to the conclusion that several genera previously listed among the Orculidae, in fact constitute separate groups. So today only the genera Alvariella, Orcula, Orculella, Pilorcula, Schileykula and Sphyradium are counted among the Orculidae. Two new families, Odontocycladidae and Pagodulinidae, were formed outside of the Orculidae family. Besides, the family Fauxulidae is freshly established.
Additionally the family Chondrinidae, together with the Truncatellinidae, is placed in a separate superfamily, the Chondrinoidea, outside of the Pupilloidea.
